Reportedly kidnapped by Hamas, 70-year-old Judih Weinstein Haggai was killed during the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel, according to statements released on Thursday by her family and Kibbutz Nir Oz.

Gadi Haggai, the spouse of Ms. Haggai, was also reported missing, but the Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum declared last week that he was also slain in the assaults.

According to the site, the couple was shot on their morning stroll across the kibbutz’s fields, and Ms. Haggai was able to let friends know that they had been hurt, her husband seriously.

It has now been verified that Ms. Haggai was indeed critically wounded, Kibbutz Nir Oz said on Thursday. How it discovered that she had perished in the attack was not made clear in its announcement.

The kibbutz, the couple’s relatives, and the Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum all claim that Hamas is holding the couple’s bodies. The organizations claimed that Ms. Haggai was also a citizen of Canada and that the pair was citizens of both Israel and the United States.

The first lady, Jill Biden, and the president stated that they were keeping their “four children, seven grandchildren, and other loved ones close to our hearts.”

He declared in a statement, “I will never forget what their daughter, and the family members of other Americans held hostage in Gaza, have shared with me.” “They have spent weeks going through hell.”

“Their murders are a reminder for leaders everywhere to bring the hostages home now before it is too late,” Ms. Haggai’s family said, adding that she would be remembered “for the creative life she built with her husband.”
