Tragedy in Iowa: A Community Cries for Change After School Shooting

Spread the love

Everything seems so clichéd. void. Insignificant. recurring. redundant.

We all deeply and solemnly offer our condolences and prayers to the Perry community, teachers, and families. “Enough is enough,” we declare. We all know that safe spaces for learning and growth should exist in schools. We question whether our society as a whole will ever learn.

Everybody has said the words. Every single one of them. Far too frequently. Too many years.

We want to assign responsibility. It’s a normal reaction to violence and tragedy. We search for our own goals by looking around.

The gunman, naturally. The gun, for those rational people.

However, the NRA, lawmakers, and weapons manufacturers should bear the brunt of the true culpability.

Gun manufacturers who overproduce and over-promote weapons since it is all about the bottom dollar for them.

New information released by law authorities indicated that on January 4, 2024, a shooting at an Iowa high school claimed the life of a sixth-grader. In addition, one school administrator and four more kids suffered injuries.

The NRA, which has spent decades deceiving and manipulating the people of America. spreading a false narrative that has intimidated gun owners into thinking their rights are in jeopardy. a false narrative that claims they need firearms to be safe. a storyline that, in limited doses, implies that guns are exclusively the tool of criminals and mentally ill individuals.

Despite being chosen by the people, lawmakers lack courage in their commitment to defending us. In actuality, there’s no cause for concern for them. Common sense gun controls are strongly supported by Americans.

They merely conceal themselves behind outdated, overdone rhetoric and talking points that contribute to an increasing number of senseless and tragic school shootings, killings, violent crimes, unintentional gunshots, and gun suicides.

How many shootings at schools before a law is passed?

We all need to keep praying and sending our condolences to the families and communities affected by gun violence. We must all keep yelling, “Enough is enough,” from the rooftops. Schools must always be safe havens where students can grow and learn. Everyone needs to acquire knowledge.

And each of us needs to act. Right now.

Speak with your legislators. Each and every one of them. At the federal, state, and local levels, demand that they take action and use their voice to adopt strong, unquestionable, reasonable gun safety measures that will truly benefit our children and communities.

Now is the moment. Make contact with all of your legislators. Right now.
