The Indian embassy in New York has confirmed the heartbreaking news that Mohammed Abdul Arfath, a 25-year-old Hyderabad student who had enrolled in a Master’s degree at Cleveland State University in 2023, was discovered dead in Ohio.
Abdul had been absent for nearly three weeks.
The Indian embassy had previously stated that it was coordinating search operations with Abdul’s family and local authorities. Today, they announced his death.
The embassy conveyed their sorrow in the following statement: “Anguished to learn that Mr. Mohammed Abdul Arfath, for whom a search effort was ongoing, was discovered deceased in Cleveland, Ohio. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr Mohammed Arfath’s family.
